What is Omnaris Nasal Spray?
Omnaris (generic name: ciclesonide) is a nasal spray intended to treat nasal symptoms caused by seasonal allergic rhinitis in adults and children aged 6 and above. It is also indicated for year-round allergy or perennial allergic rhinitis among adults and adolescents from 12 years of age. It treats symptoms such as runny nose, stuffiness or congestion, itchiness, and sneezing.
This corticosteroid has a wide range of effects on different cell types and mediators that are involved in allergic inflammation. Its anti-inflammatory property has an affinity for the glucocorticoid receptor. This is available in Omnaris Nasal Spray 50 mcg in each 120 doses spray.
How to use Omnaris Nasal Spray
To initiate, read the medication information leaflet that comes with this product. Avoid using Omnaris if you have not fully understood the drug information and instructions written in the guide yet. If you have questions about using this nasal spray or need further medical advice, you can ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Remember to use this corticosteroid regularly and with a dosing schedule for best results. This is usually prescribed once daily. However, your Omnaris dose will depend on your medical condition or response to treatment. If you are using Omnaris to prevent seasonal allergies, your doctor may recommend using Omnaris 2 to 4 weeks before the pollen starts.
Step by Step Guide in Using Omnaris Nasal Spray:
- Before applying Omnaris, blow your nose to make sure that your nostrils are clear.
- Shake the bottle gently and open the cap.
- To hold the bottle properly, hold the top portion firmly between the index and middle finger, and support the base using your thumb.
- Insert the applicator or tip of the spray bottle into the nostril and close the other nostril by pressing it with your finger.
- Slightly tilt your head forward. With the nasal spray bottle in an upright position, press the finger rest firmly and quickly to release the medication. Inhale through the nose as you spray. Be careful not to spray Omnaris in your eyes or nasal septum.
- Once you are done with the sprays in each nostril, wipe the applicator tip with a clean tissue and replace the bottle cap.
Monitor the number of sprays you have dispensed. Discard the bottle if you have used the number of sprays indicated in the packaging or 4 months after removing the product from its foil pouch, whichever comes first.
