What is Inhibace used for
Inhibace, with the generic name cilazapril, is an oral medication indicated to treat mild to moderate essential hypertension. This medication can be used alone or together with thiazide diuretics. Complications like kidney problems, stroke, and heart attack can be prevented through blood pressure management. This drug is also indicated to treat congestive heart failure as an adjunct treatment if patients do not respond satisfactorily to digitalis and diuretics.
This is available in Inhibace 5 mg, 2.5 mg, and 1 mg tablets.
How does Inhibace work?
This angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor works by suppressing the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, which results in the reduction of supine and standing systolic and diastolic pressures. Also, through this action, plasma renin activity and concentrations of angiotensin I am increased, and angiotensin II and aldosterone secretions are decreased. Through these effects, blood vessels relax, and the heart can pump more efficiently.
