Breo Ellipta, generic name fluticasone furoate and vilanterol, is an oral inhalation used for the maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and the regular treatment of asthma. It helps manage airflow obstruction while reducing exacerbations of COPD and controls and/or prevents wheezing and difficulty breathing.
Breo Ellipta should not be used to replace a rescue inhaler. It is not indicated to relieve sudden onset or acute breathing problems.
Breo Ellipta inhaler is a combination of an inhaled corticosteroid and a long-acting beta-2 adrenergic agonist. It works by reducing inflammation in the airways and relaxing the bronchial smooth muscle.

Make sure to read the medication guide before using the Breo Ellipta inhaler.
It is important to use Breo Ellipta exactly as prescribed. This medication is only administered once daily. Do not use it more than once in 24 hours. Take your inhalation at the same time each day.
How To Use Breo Ellipta:
- Open the cover of the inhaler by sliding it down until you see the mouthpiece. At this point, the counter will count down by one, which means that it is ready to use. (If you open and close the cover without inhaling the medication, then a dose has been lost.)
- Breathe out or exhale completely while holding the inhaler away from you.
- Close your lips tightly around the mouthpiece.
- Do a long, deep, and steady inhalation through the mouth. Do not block the air vent as you do this.
- Remove the inhaler from your mouth.
- Hold your breath for about 3 to 4 seconds.
- Breathe out slowly.
- Close the inhaler by sliding the cover up.
- Rinse your mouth with water to avoid a dry mouth.

The following are common side effects that may occur when using Breo Ellipta:
- Throat irritation
- Dry mouth and throat
