Inspiolto Respimat Uses

Inspiolto Respimat, with the generic name tiotropium bromide monohydrate and olodaterol hydrochloride, is an inhalation solution indicated to treat breathing difficulties among patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or COPD, which includes chronic bronchitis and emphysema. This medication relieves symptoms such as shortness of breath and wheezing.

This is available in Inspiolto Respimat 2.5 mcg/2.5 mcg inhalation solution.

Inspiolto Respimat Mechanism of Action

This inhalation is a combination of a long-acting muscarinic agonist and a long-acting beta2 adrenergic agonist. It works by inhibiting the M3 receptor in the smooth muscle of the lungs, which leads to smooth muscle relaxation and bronchodilation. It also catalyzes the formation of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and protein kinase A, which, when elevated, could also lead to bronchodilation through the relaxation of airway smooth muscles.

How to use Inspiolto Respimat

To initiate, read the Inspiolto Respimat guide or information leaflet that comes with this inhaler. Do not use any bronchodilator without fully understanding the drug information and instruction in the guide provided. Step by step guide in using Inspiolto Respimat:

  1. To prepare your inhaler, keep the cap closed and remove the clear base by pressing the safety catch as you pull off the clear base firmly.
  2. Insert the narrow part of your cartridge into the device and put it on a firm surface. Push it down until it snaps. Then, put the clear base back.
  3. Rotate the clear base towards the direction of the arrow until it clicks.
  4. Fully open the cap until it snaps.
  5. With the inhaler pointing towards the ground, press the dose-release button. Then, put the cap back on. Repeat steps 3-5 until a cloud is visible. Once it is already visible, repeat steps 3-5 for three more times.
  6. Once it is ready to use, exhale slowly and fully.
  7. Without covering the air vents, put the mouthpiece inside your mouth with your lips around it.
  8. As you take a slow, deep inhalation through your mouth, press the dose-release button.
  9. Keep your breath held for at least 10 seconds. Then, take another puff or actuation.
